793 New corona infections: Incidence on the rise again
In Berlin, 793 new infections with the coronavirus have been reported at the beginning of the new week.
Five people died with or from Corona in the same period, according to the Senate Department's latest situation report dated 26 April 2021. The seven-day incidence rose to 137.9 compared to Sunday, up from 135.4 the previous day. The value indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants have been newly infected with the virus in the past seven days.
Status report uses RKI data
Since the federal law on tightening contact restrictions came into force last Friday, the Senate administration no longer uses its own data to determine the incidence, but takes the data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). Meanwhile, the proportion of vaccinated people in the capital continues to rise: around 8.7 percent of Berlin's inhabitants have now received the second vaccination dose. 1.129 million doses have now been vaccinated.
Burden in intensive care units remains high
27.1 percent of intensive care beds are occupied by Covid 19 patients. This means that the occupancy rate has not changed since Sunday. The number of registered infections rose to 165 097 on Monday. 3193 deaths have been registered in connection with Covid-19 since the outbreak of the pandemic.
