Throughout Berlin, there are now about 400 places where Corona rapid tests are offered. These include 19 test centres of the state and about 380 so-called test-to-go sites of private providers, as the Senate Department for Health announced on 16 April 2021.
Another 60 are currently being certified, most of which will be allowed to start on Saturday. The administration also wants to expand the range of test centres in the state in the districts of Spandau, Lichtenberg, Treptow-Köpenick, Neukölln, Marzahn-Hellersdorf, Pankow and Reinickendorf.
Over million tests per week possible
According to the data, around 1.2 million tests are possible each week in Berlin - and the trend is rising. Senator Dilek Kalayci (SPD) said that the range of tests would be further expanded in coordination with the districts. On Monday, she had admitted in the health committee of the House of Representatives that there were still gaps, especially outside the S-Bahn ring, but also explained that it was impossible to "conjure up" test sites. Several representatives had pointed out that it sometimes took more than half an hour to get to the next test centre by public transport.
