Incidence decreases, intensive care bed utilisation does not

The number of new corona infections in Berlin per 100,000 inhabitants in one week has dropped again. The so-called incidence was 100.7 on Thursday (08 April 2021) (previous day 110.5), according to the situation report of the Senate Department for Health.

The Berlin Corona warning light continues to show red here. The highest incidence is currently in the district of Spandau with a value of 126.8. At the same time, the utilisation of intensive care beds with Covid 19 patients continues to rise slightly and is now at 23.9 percent. This brings the critical 25 percent mark even closer. When a quarter of the intensive care beds are occupied because of Corona, the traffic light switches to red, currently it shows yellow.

923 new corona infections reported

On Thursday, 923 new infections were reported. This brought the number of registered infected people since the beginning of the pandemic in Berlin to 151 300. 139 004 people are considered recovered. The number of those who died in connection with Corona increased to 3110, twelve more dead than the previous day. The traffic light only shows green for the so-called R-value. According to the situation report, it is currently at 0.63 after 0.70 the day before. The reproduction number indicates how many people an infected person infects on average.
