In Berlin, the number of new corona infections reported per 100,000 inhabitants within one week remains below the important 100 mark.
On Monday (22 March 2021), the seven-day incidence was 98.6, according to the Senate Health Administration's situation report. The figure had also been just below 100 on Saturday and Sunday, and 101.3 on Friday. Since the start of the pandemic, a total of 138,982 new infections have been reported in the city - 545 more than the previous day. 129 295 people are now considered recovered (up 445). Six more people died after being infected with Corona. The number of deaths thus rose to 2998.
Politicians are currently looking closely at the so-called incidence - the value is also currently being used to discuss whether relaxations are still possible or even have to be withdrawn. In Berlin's Corona traffic light, the incidence is still red, while the so-called R-value remains green. It indicates how many people an infected person infects on average and was 1.06 on Monday (previous day 1.11). The situation of hospitals is still shown as yellow: 15.8 percent of intensive care beds are currently occupied by Covid 19 patients (previous day: 15.0 percent).
