73 new Corona cases: 7-day incidence slightly increased

After the 7-day incidence in Berlin had largely stagnated over the past few days, the Corona index rose slightly on Sunday (21 February 2021). At the end of the weekend, the incidence in the capital was 56.6 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in 7 days, according to the current situation report of the Senate Department for Health.

On Saturday and Friday, the value was 54.9. After the value had dropped significantly in the past weeks, the trend reversed again recently. The corresponding Corona traffic light thus remains red. It would only change to yellow at a value of 30, and to green at 20.

On Sunday, 73 newly infected people were registered in Berlin. However, fewer new infections are usually recorded or reported at weekends, so the numbers are usually too low. The number of cases thus rose to 126,898. One more person has also died from or with the virus. Seven deaths were counted on Saturday. The number of deaths since the beginning of the pandemic thus rose to 2728 in Berlin. The Corona traffic light continues to show yellow for the proportion of intensive care beds occupied by Covid 19 patients: it is currently 20.7 percent. The threshold for a red traffic light signal is 25 percent.
