This was decided by the Senate on Tuesday, as the Governing Mayor, Michael Müller (SPD), announced on 02 February 2021 after the Senate meeting. A medical mask is prescribed, just as it is when shopping and travelling on public transport. The new rules also affect gatherings in the form of a motorcade and are expected to come into force in the coming days. The current Infection Protection Ordinance will be adapted accordingly. Müller said that a tightening of the ordinance was necessary at this point. The infection figures in Berlin are declining, he said. "We are on the right path. But we want to keep at it, we are not getting cocky."
