Corona in Berlin: 455 new infections
On Monday (01 February 2021), the seven-day incidence - the number of new corona infections per 100 000 inhabitants per week - was 84.8.
The previous day, the value was 83.8. Berlin's Corona traffic light continues to be red here, according to the situation report of the Senate Department for Health. The target is less than 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days. The traffic light also remains red for the utilisation of intensive care beds. Here, the rate of 27.3 per cent is just below the value of the previous day (28.1).

The traffic light continues to be green for the reproduction number (R-value). The 4-day R-value stood at 0.93 on Monday - exactly the same as on the previous day. It describes how many people an infected person infects on average. According to experts, this value must be significantly lower than 1 in order to slow down the pandemic. 455 new Corona cases were reported on Monday. The day before, there were 140 registered cases. According to the situation report, 120,392 people have been infected with the pathogen Sars-CoV-2 in Berlin since the beginning of the pandemic, of whom 106,870 are considered to have recovered. 2293 people have died in connection with Corona, 17 more than the previous day. Fewer new infections are usually registered at weekends.
