Cases of new corona infections in Berlin continue to decline. On Wednesday (27 January 2021), the number per 100,000 inhabitants within one week - the so-called 7-day incidence - was 101.2 cases, according to the health administration's situation report.
On Tuesday, this value was still at 106.8. The target is less than 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in 7 days.
Just as with new infections, the Senate's Corona traffic light continues to be red for the occupancy of intensive care beds with Covid 19 patients. Here, the rate of 30.3 percent is only slightly below the value of the previous day (30.5). The traffic light remains green for the reproduction rate (R-value). The R-value stood at 0.74 on Wednesday - after 0.91 on the previous day. It describes how many people an infected person infects on average. According to experts, this value must be significantly lower than 1 in order to slow down the pandemic.
According to the health administration, 890 Corona infections were reported on Wednesday. This brings the number of infections in Berlin since the beginning of the pandemic to 118,447 cases, 103,847 people are considered to have recovered. The number of deaths related to the virus rose to 2164 - 63 more than the previous day.
