Test kits with swabs are located in a testing center for suspected corona cases.

If the limit of 200 is exceeded, Berliners will have to be prepared for restrictions on their freedom of movement. However, the restriction to a radius of 15 kilometers around the Berlin city limits should not apply before the weekend. The number of new infections transmitted on Wednesday was 1222, bringing the number of infected people since the start of the pandemic to 109,525. Around 90,800 people are considered to have recovered. The number of deaths related to Covid-19 was reported at 1711 - which were 76 newly reported cases.

Utilization of intensive care beds with Covid 19 patients at 32.5 percent

The Berlin traffic light has jumped back from yellow to green for the so-called reproduction number (R-value). As recently as Monday, it was red. The R-value on Wednesday was 0.97. It describes how many people an infected person infects on average. To slow down the pandemic, the value must be significantly lower than 1. For the third indicator of the traffic light, the utilization of intensive care beds with Covid 19 patients (currently 32.5 percent), the traffic light has been on red for some time, as well as for the number of new infections within a week per 100,000 inhabitants. The interpretation of the data is currently difficult because, according to the RKI, Corona cases were discovered, recorded and transmitted with a delay around Christmas and the turn of the year.
