In the future, Berliners will only be allowed to travel 15 kilometers from the city limits.
According to information from the Deutsche Presse-Agentur, the Senate agreed at its meeting on Tuesday (January 12, 2021) to restrict the freedom of movement in view of the continuing large number of new Corona infections. The regulation is expected to apply from a figure of 200 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week. On Monday, the figure was 190.8.
The 15-kilometer rule already applies in Brandenburg and other German states. For example, tourist travel for residents of Brandenburg's Corona hotspots outside a 15-kilometer radius of their county or county-free city has been prohibited since Saturday. This applies to a seven-day incidence of more than 200 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants. Travel to work, groceries and doctor's visits remain allowed.
