The so-called seven-day incidence rose on Friday (08 January 2021) to around 171. The value indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants have been infected in the past seven days. Before Christmas, the value in Berlin had been well above 200 and then initially dropped significantly.
On Friday, the Senate Health Administration registered 1479 new Corona cases. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the number of infected people has risen to 105,125. Around 85,000 people are considered to have recovered and around 20,000 are currently infected.
60 new deaths were reported. This means that 1547 people have died in the capital since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. The situation remains tense with regard to the occupancy of intensive care beds with Covid patients. The occupancy rate was 34.7 per cent. The Senate's Corona traffic light continues to show red twice.
