In Berlin, the number of new infections with the coronavirus has increased again. On Thursday (7 January 2021), the health administration registered 1569 new cases, compared to 1306 the previous day.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the number of infected people has thus risen to 103 646. Exactly 84 517 people are considered to have recovered, which is 1272 more than on the previous day. 42 new deaths were reported. This means that 1487 people have died in the capital since the start of the pandemic in connection with Covid-19. Most of the deaths were in the 80-89 age group, with 645.
Corona traffic light continues to show red twice
The situation remains tense with regard to the occupancy of intensive care beds with Covid patients. The occupancy rate was 34.6 per cent (previous day 35.2 per cent). The Senate's Corona traffic light thus continues to point to red. The limit of 25 per cent has been exceeded for weeks. The so-called seven-day incidence in Berlin is currently 139.6. Here, too, the Berlin traffic light continues to point to red. The value indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants have been infected in the past seven days. The highest incidence was in the district of Spandau with 182.3.
