Berlin has passed the mark of 100,000 reported Corona cases since the start of the pandemic. The city's health offices have reported 100,771 infections since spring, according to the situation report issued on Tuesday (5 January 2021).
That is 1235 more than the previous day. After the holidays with closed doctors' surgeries, fewer laboratory tests and delays in reporting by the authorities, the current increase can only be compared with earlier daily values to a limited extent.
63 more deaths
A total of 63 new deaths have been reported following Corona infections, bringing the total number to 1,390. 82,025 people are considered to have recovered. The Corona traffic light for assessing the situation is still red for two of three indicators: With 131.8 infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days, Berlin is still above the self-imposed limit of 30; more than a third of the intensive care beds are occupied by Covid 19 patients (35.0 with a limit of 25 percent).
