The Berlin health authorities reported 436 new infections with the coronavirus on Sunday (22 November 2020). That was four cases more than on Sunday last week, according to figures from the State Office of Health and Social Affairs.
On Sundays, the case numbers recorded are generally lower than on other weekdays because not all health authorities report their data at the weekend and there is also less testing. Since the outbreak of the epidemic, a total of 56,504 people have been infected in Berlin. This corresponds to about 1.5 percent of all Berliners. 34,883 patients are now considered to have recovered. Nearly every tenth test is now positive.
The number of people who have died with a corona infection so far is 449. 295 Covid-19 patients are in intensive care units, 8 less than on Saturday. Most of them are ventilated. The utilization rate of the intensive care beds is 24 percent. Per 100,000 inhabitants, 224.9 infections were reported in the past seven days. This so-called seven-day incidence was slightly lower than during the week. Compared to the previous week, it increased by 4 percent. In mid-October, however, this growth rate was still well over 50 percent. Since then the trend has been downwards.
