On Tuesday (November 17, 2020) the health authorities in Berlin recorded 1572 new corona cases. This brings the total number of people infected with corona since the beginning of the pandemic to 50,606, with 30,940 being considered to have recovered.
The number of corona deaths increased by 22 to 393, according to the health administration's situation report. Furthermore, one of the three Berlin corona traffic lights is on red, namely the so-called 7-day incidence. It now stands at 227 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days - and thus 18 percent higher than a week ago. For comparison: the critical threshold for the 7-day incidence is 50, with the highest value in Berlin in the Mitte district (379.5) followed by Neukölln (328.5).
According to the management report, 288 Covid-19 patients are currently being treated in intensive care units. This corresponds to an occupancy rate of 23.2 percent for the beds there with this type of patient. At the critical 25 percent mark, this traffic light would change from amber to red. The third traffic light with the so-called R-value is green with 1.02. This indicates how many people on average are infected with the virus by a sick person.
