Lucia Christmas market in Kulturbrauerei cancelled
The popular Christmas market at the Kulturbrauerei in Prenzlauer Berg is cancelled this year due to the Corona pandemic.
This was announced by the organizers on Tuesday (November 10, 2020). It was said that the lack of clarity about possible permissions or prohibitions of the policy was the reason for the cancellation. Even if the market had been permitted, the restrictions would have meant that there would have been so few visitors that it would have been virtually impossible to achieve genuine economic viability. In October, the organizers were still optimistic.
The Christmas markets in front of Charlottenburg Palace and on the Gendarmenmarkt as well as the light shows "Christmas Garden" in the Botanical Garden in Berlin-Lichterfelde and "Christmas in the Tierpark" in Friedrichsfelde will not take place this year either.
Other Christmas markets, such as an der Gedächtniskirche, on Alexanderplatz, at Berlin Town Hall and on Potsdamer Platz, should be held according to the latest state of affairs with restrictions such as compulsory masks. Since the beginning of November, stricter rules have again been in force in Berlin in the fight against the Corona pandemic - among other things, the opening of the Christmas markets, which was already planned for the end of November, was not permitted.
