A health administration spokesman said on Tuesday (November 10, 2020) that the Senate is scheduled to inform the federal government of a delivery point for the vaccine where it can be stored. The RBB "Abendschau" had previously reported on this. According to the report, the location is to remain secret for security reasons. The Berlin Senate will discuss the issue on Tuesday.

Federal government to procure vaccines, states to set up vaccination centers

On Friday, the Conference of Health Ministers (GMK), together with Federal Minister Jens Spahn (CDU), agreed on a uniform procedure for the supply of vaccines. According to the agreement, the federal government is to procure and finance the vaccines, while the states are to set up vaccination centers. According to the agreements, it is planned that the vaccines will be supplied by the German Armed Forces or by the manufacturers. According to the agreement, the federal government will pay half of the costs for the vaccination centers.

Vaccinations initially for older people and those with previous illnesses

The federal and state health ministers assume that once a vaccine has been approved, its availability will initially be limited. The vaccination is to be administered first to elderly people and those with pre-existing conditions, then to nursing staff and staff in health authorities, police and fire departments, schools and daycare centers. An effective corona vaccine in Europe and the U.S. is now within reach. On Monday, the Mainz-based company Biontech and the pharmaceutical company Pfizer became the first Western manufacturers to publish promising results of a study that is crucial for approval.
