241 new corona cases
The number of confirmed new corona infections in Berlin increased by 241 within one day. It now stands at 39,620, according to the health administration's situation report from Sunday.
Samples for corona tests are examined.
The increase is clearly smaller than in the past days, however not all cases are registered on the weekend. In the meantime, 24,368 people throughout Berlin are considered to have recovered, 343 more than the day before. In connection with the virus 295 humans died, one more than in the statistics from Saturday.
In the past seven days, Berlin has seen 188.2 corona cases per 100,000 inhabitants. This means that the rate has recently fallen slightly - on Saturday it was 188.9. However, the Corona traffic light here is still on red. Green it would be with this indicator only with values under 20.
Berlin's most severely affected district Neukölln currently has 323.4 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days. In Tempelhof-Schöneberg the figure is 263.8 - the second highest in Berlin. In comparison to Saturday, the utilization of intensive care beds with Covid-19 patients has again increased slightly to exactly 20 percent. On Saturday the occupancy rate was 19.2 percent, on Friday: 19.5 percent.
The so-called reproduction rate has risen slightly. The traffic light is still green. However, the R-value is 1.07 on Sunday, after 0.92 the day before and 0.80 on Friday. It indicates how many other people an infected person infects on average and is therefore an important indicator for the future development of the pandemic. According to the Robert Koch Institute, for the situation to become controllable again, the R-value must remain well below 1 for a longer period of time, at 0.7 or better still lower.
