Corona: Almost 1000 new infections, 7-day incidence over 100

In the capital, the number of new corona infections has risen to a new daily high.

According to the current situation report of the Berlin health administration, 971 new cases were registered on Wednesday (October 21, 2020). This is the highest increase within one day since the beginning of the pandemic. The previous peak value was given on Tuesday with 822 new infections.

348 people recovered since Monday

So far, 23 697 corona cases have been reported. 17 107 people are now considered to have recovered. This is a plus of 348 compared to the previous day. 243 patients died, the number of deaths has not increased compared to Tuesday.

7-day incidence far above the threshold

The number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants over the past seven days has continued to grow and now stands at 104.4. The figure is more than twice as high as the critical threshold of 50. Berlin is still considered a risk area.

7-day incidence in Neukölln over 200

The 7-day incidence reported on Wednesday was still highest in the Neukölln district. It rose to 217.9 (previous day: 188.5). The second-highest value was recorded in the Mitte district with 171.1 (previous day: 143.9), followed by Tempelhof-Schöneberg with 140.7.

The proportion of intensive care beds occupied by Covid-19 patients increased slightly. On Wednesday it was 6.7 percent. The day before it was 6.4 percent.
