In outdoors from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. only five persons or people from two households may gather, as the senate further decided. At private celebrations in closed areas may participate only maximally 10 instead of so far 25 persons.
The new rules are aimed primarily at private parties and illegal parties, which the Berlin authorities see as driving the spread of infection. They are to apply from Saturday.

Compulsory use of masks in office buildings in force for a few days

Only since last Saturday new restrictions, which the senate had decided in the previous week, apply in Berlin: Private celebrations in the open air with more than 50 participants are forbidden since then. In closed rooms there is an upper limit of 25 participants. Also new is a mask requirement in office buildings.

Despite these resolutions, Berlin was still under pressure due to the rapid increase in the number of infections. Representatives of the German government have repeatedly called publicly for the city to do more to combat the corona pandemic and enforce the rules, most recently Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU).
