Curfew for bars, restaurants and stores due to Corona

Due to the significant increase in corona infections, most stores and all restaurants and bars in Berlin will have to close from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. in the future.

On Tuesday (October 6, 2020), the Senate passed a night-time curfew. Exceptions are planned for pharmacies and gas stations. However, these are only allowed to sell pharmaceuticals or petrol or spare parts for motor vehicles. The sale of alcohol is prohibited at gas stations during curfew hours.

Contact restrictions between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.

In addition, the restrictions on contact in public spaces during curfew hours will be tightened: between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. a so-called " scattering order" will apply. A maximum of five people from different households or more people from no more than two households may stay together in public space at night.

Curfew in Berlin: At a glance

  • Period of curfew: 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Closures: Stores must close during the mentioned period (pharmacies and gas stations are only allowed to sell medicines and necessary car items during this period).
  • Contact restrictions: No more than 5 persons or persons from 2 households may stay together in the public area between 23 and 06 o'clock.
  • Duration: The regulation comes into force on Saturday, 10 October at 0 o'clock and is valid until the end of 31 October 2020
