Test tubes for the Covid-19 test lie on a table at a corona test site.

The new infections in relation to the number of inhabitants in the past seven days and the reproduction rate are now above the limits defined as critical. This is the information contained in the online situation report published by the health administration on Tuesday (October 6, 2020). According to the report, the reproduction rate is 1.26. This means that an infected person infects more than one other person. To slow down the pandemic, the value would have to be less than 1. The 7-day incidence is now at 44.2. In the inner city districts, the figures are significantly higher than on the outskirts, with Neukölln in particular standing out with 87.3.

The occupancy rate of intensive care beds with Covid-19 patients remains in the green at 3.1 percent. On Tuesday, 288 new infections were reported.

Corona traffic light on double red: Senate discusses further procedure

The Berlin early warning system for the evaluation of the Corona situation signals a need for consultation in case of double-yellow. If the so-called Corona traffic light shows double red, the senate sees a need for action. Starting from 17 o'clock the red-red-green senate wanted to discuss after its regular meeting in the morning for the second time on Tuesday over the further procedure in the Corona crisis. According to information from the German Press Agency and other media, there are currently three topics for discussion: a night-time curfew during which no alcohol is to be served or sold; regulations for restrictions on outdoor contact during the night; and finally a new upper limit of ten participants for celebrations in closed rooms.
