The Senate Chancellery announced on Monday (October 5, 2020) that a support fund will be established for private universities. The immediate program "VirtualCampusBerlin" will be continued and increased by ten million euros in the winter semester 2020/2021. The money is earmarked for the further expansion of the technical infrastructure, material resources and personnel, among other things. The development fund for private institutions has a volume of 2.6 million euros and is also available for digitization.

Digital education to be further expanded in the winter semester

"Even in the corona pandemic, it must be possible to study well in Berlin. With our measures, we have responded quickly and reliably to the needs of our universities and are further expanding our support for digital education in the winter semester," said Berlin's Governing Mayor and Science Senator Michael Müller (SPD).

Over 30 million euros for universities and students in the Corona pandemic

The additional funds are therefore part of a 30 million euro package of measures that the Berlin Senate has put together for universities and students in the Corona pandemic.
