So far, 60 soldiers are already deployed for this purpose. Now, according to a report in the "Berliner Morgenpost", 180 more are to follow. The soldiers are to be deployed in tracking contacts of infected persons and in smear teams. "I am pleased that the additional Bundeswehr soldiers will actively support the district offices in containing the pandemic," Health Senator Dilek Kalayci (SPD) told the newspaper. The soldiers will be deployed in eleven districts, but not in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, although the number of new infections there is very high. According to the report, the district rejects the deployment of soldiers to fight the Corona pandemic.
