130 new corona cases in Berlin

In Berlin, the number of corona infections on Wednesday (September 16, 2020) increased by 130 proven cases compared to the previous day. This means that 12,592 infections with Sars-CoV-2 have been detected since the outbreak of the pandemic, according to the current status report of the Senate Department of Health.

In the laboratory, swabs from the nasopharynx are tested for the Sars-CoV-2 virus to detect infection.

In the past seven days, according to the report, the district Mitte had the most new cases with 114, followed by Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg with 106 cases. The fewest new infections during this period were recorded in Steglitz-Zehlendorf (14 cases). In total, 227 Berliners have died in connection with the coronavirus since the spring. 11 450 people are considered to have recovered. With the corona traffic light decided by the senate, all three indicators (reproduction rate, new infections per 100 000 inhabitants/week and utilization of intensive care beds) are still green.
