Senate plans no ban on alcohol

The Berlin Senate is not planning to ban alcohol in Berlin, not even for certain streets. The Senate is "not really" thinking about that, said culture senator Klaus Lederer (Left) on August 11, 2020 after its session.

There were already rules in place and they had to be enforced and respected. "Where people don't follow the rules, there must be consequences." The Senate will continue to debate whether all the rules are adequate. "But we agree not to do it through press and not through idea dropping," Lederer said. It could be useful to tighten the rules as the number of infections increases.
