The corona test obligation for returnees from risk areas in Berlin, which has been in force since Saturday, has apparently been complied with by many travellers.
Mallorca holidaymakers were not tested
In Schönefeld, travellers told a dpa reporter that the tests were uncomplicated and the staff were friendly. Some of them wished for better signposting of the test site. Arrivals from Mallorca were rejected. The Spanish holiday island does not belong to the risk areas. At ZOB
240 people had been tested until the afternoon, according to the health administration. That was significantly more than the average of the last days, when the tests were voluntary. Current figures for the airports were not available for Saturday.
Over 6000 travellers have already been tested
However, the health administration announced that since the opening of the test centres in Tegel (29 July) and Schoenefeld (31 July), more than 6,000 travellers had voluntarily undergone testing at both airports by Friday. More than 100 had been infected with the coronavirus.
Corona tests at the airport are free of charge
Returnees from risk areas who do not already have a current negative test result on entry must be tested. This can be done free of charge up to three days after arrival, according to a regulation issued by Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU). The tests are to be carried out directly at airports, but also in test centers or medical practices in cities.
