53 new corona infections in Berlin
In Berlin, the number of registered corona infections has continued to rise - but much less than the day before. On Thursday (06 August 2020) there were 53 confirmed new corona infections and thus 9542 cases so far.

On Wednesday the number had risen by 91. 38 people are currently being isolated and treated in hospital - 9 fewer than on Wednesday, the Senate Department of Health announced on Thursday. Of these, 16 are receiving intensive medical treatment. All other people are isolated at home. The number of deaths did not increase. According to the Senate Department of Health, 224 patients died in Berlin in connection with the Covid-19 disease.
Reproduction value down again
The traffic light remained green for all three indicators that are decisive for countermeasures in Berlin. These include the Reproduction Value R, which fell again on Thursday and currently stands at 0.76 (previous day 1.01). It indicates how many people an infected person infects each time. If the value exceeds 1.2 more than three times, it shows red.
Countermeasures planned for two red indicators
The number of new infections per 100 000 inhabitants within a week was 8.9 on Thursday, and the traffic light would only show amber from 20 onwards. The utilization of intensive care beds with corona patients was 1.2 percent. According to the health administration, this is still a very low value. The Senate wants to implement countermeasures as soon as two of the three traffic lights turn red.
After months of prohibition due to the Corona pandemic, sex work will gradually be allowed again in Berlin. This was decided by the Senate on Tuesday.
The Covid-19 test station at the Central Bus Station (ZOB) in Berlin has started operation. Since Monday, returning passengers have had the opportunity to be tested for Covid-19 there.
