Plus 63: Stronger increase in the number of corona infections
The number of confirmed corona cases in the capital rose on Friday at the highest rate since the end of June. According to the Senate Health Administration, it rose by 63 to 8956.
According to this, 41 patients are currently being treated in hospital, 20 of them in intensive care - the figures remained almost unchanged compared to the previous day. A further death in connection with Covid-19 was recorded, a total of 223 people have died in Berlin since the beginning of the pandemic. 8418 people, however, are considered to have recovered.
According to the health administration, the Corona traffic light is still green for all three indicators. Neither the number of new infections per week per 100,000 inhabitants, nor the proportion of intensive care unit places needed for Covid-19 patients, nor the reproduction rate are therefore a reason to implement further measures to contain the infections.
According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), a significant increase in reported coronavirus cases has recently been observed in many German states. "This development is very worrying and the RKI continues to monitor it very closely," an RKI spokeswoman told the German Press Agency on Friday. The RKI appealed for instance to consistently adhere to the rules of distance and hygiene - even outdoors. Indoors should be ventilated and, where necessary, mouth-nose coverings should be worn correctly
Symptom-free travel returnees from risk areas should soon be able to have themselves tested for the corona virus in medical practices in Berlin.
The distance rules in restaurants, which have been in force until now because of the corona pandemic, will be relaxed in Berlin.
