One corona traffic light on red, 27 new infections
For the fourth day in a row, the infection rate in Berlin is above the critical value of 1.2.
The so-called reproduction figure is currently estimated at 1.32, the health administration announced on Wednesday (3 June 2020). "The first traffic light is thus still red", was the comment on the three-part traffic light system used to assess the corona situation in the capital. The R-value indicates how many people an infected person infects on average. It must be below 1 to let the epidemic subside.
Berlin continues to be well in the green range for the other two indicators: the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants last week is 5.1 (red: from 30 per 100,000), the proportion of Covid-19 patients in intensive care units is 3.4 per cent (red: from 25 per cent). If a second traffic light turns red, this could mean the end of further relaxation and possibly a tightening of measures.
A total of 27 new infections with Sars-CoV-2 have been reported from the Berlin districts compared to the previous day, the health administration further announced. The total number of cases since the beginning of the outbreak is now 6900, 6388 of which are considered to have recovered, 200 people died.
