"If everything goes according to plan, the first open-air swimming pools could actually start on 25 May," the Berliner Bäder-Betriebe (BBB) announced on Monday (18 May 2020). An independent concept is needed for each of the pools. The Senate had decided that the open-air and beach pools in the city would be allowed to reopen on May 25. The prerequisites are hygiene plans agreed with the authorities and the observance of distance rules.

Changing rooms and showers remain closed

The operating concepts provide for the changing rooms and shower rooms to remain closed, according to the BBB. Time tickets must be purchased online in advance and are only valid for a certain time slot and are available in limited numbers. A standard rate of probably 3.80 euros per visit is to apply to all bathrooms. The general rules of distance and hygiene would also have to be observed in the water. Depending on developments, the planned rules could be adapted later.
