The state thus goes further than the regulation proposed by the federal government to ban major events until 31 August. Events with more than 1000 participants may not take place in Berlin until August 31. Concerts or public festivals are affected by the measure, as is the Berlin Marathon. It was supposed to take place on September 27th. Last year, 47,000 participants took part.

Sports events with spectators also affected

The regulation also includes a ban on sporting events with spectators until 24 October. Whether this means that the Bundesliga football clubs Hertha BSC and Union have to hold ghost games until October was initially unclear. In this case, uniform nationwide regulations would be desirable, Müller said.
