This is stated in a letter from the Senate Administration for Education to the Berlin school administrators dated 13 March 2020, which is available to dpa. "For this reason there will be no school trips, excursions or other school events from now on", it says.
The headmasters are also asked to ensure that all examinations are carried out. "Students will appear at their respective schools for the exam dates. School administrators, teachers and educational staff will be present at their offices until further notice."
The governing mayor of Berlin, Michael Müller (SPD), announced on Friday morning that Berlin's schools and day-care centres will be closed as of next week in view of the increasing number of people infected with the novel corona virus.
