Berlin gets new cardiac center

One of the most modern cardiac centers in Europe is to be built in Berlin. Construction will next year at a cost of almost 400 million euros.

The Charité University Medical Center Berlin and the German Heart Institute Berlin will bundle their expertise in the new German Heart Center of the Charité (DHZC) from January and are planning a new building on the grounds of the Virchow Clinic. The necessary contracts for the collaboration have now been notarized, a Charité spokeswoman announced in Berlin on December 14, 2021. Construction of the new building on the Virchow Clinic campus, with around 300 hospital beds, is scheduled to be completed in 2028. The state of Berlin is financing the 386.9 million Euro project with 286.9 million Euros. A further 100 million will come from the federal government.
