NYE party at the Brandenburg Gate without audience

The traditional New Year's Eve party at the Brandenburg Gate is planned without a large crowd for the time being in view of the infection situation. However, there will still be a live show from there on ZDF, as the TV station and organisers confirmed on 10 December 2021. Musicians Michael Patrick Kelly, Bonnie Tyler and Marianne Rosenberg as well as cabaret artist Dieter Hallervorden are to perform.

Fireworks are set off at the Brandenburg Gate on New Year's Day.

Due to the "health policy situation", it was decided to implement the show "primarily as a television production", the organiser sib Silvester announced in Berlin. The concept for the event will be continuously adapted with the authorities. "Depending on the current situation, a small number of live audience members may be on site."
In previous years, the New Year's Eve party at the Brandenburg Gate was the biggest New Year's Eve celebration in Germany, with hundreds of thousands of people. In 2020, ZDF had broadcast a show without an audience because of the pandemic. Back then, presenters Johannes B. Kerner and Andrea Kiewel led the evening. This time, live broadcasts into the living rooms of famous people are also planned.
