In light of the force of the second Coronavirus wave, spokespeople from the Berlin exhibitions center stated that there would be no major events in January and February, as the German Press Agency (dpa) reported on Friday. This also affects the Fruit Logistica, an international trade fair for fruit and vegetable marketing, which will be postponed from February to the beginning of April.

Green Week 2021 took place online

After an online edition in 2021, the public fair Green Week was supposed to open to visitors again for ten days on January 21, 2022. The plan was to open the halls at the Berlin radio tower only for vaccinated and recovered people (2G). Masks and social distancing were to be dispensed with.

Numerous cancellations from companies and organizations

Explaining the cancellation, the trade fair's project manager Lars Jaeger stated: "The International Green Week lives from its encounters, from trying, discovering and tasting. Under the given conditions, such as masks and minimum distances, the expectations of our visitors to the Green Week cannot be met." The Berlin Senate had decided on Tuesday to expand existing 2G rules with an additional face mask requirement. On Wednesday, the Schleswig-Holstein had canceled his presence at the trade show in Berlin. As the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Association explained, the reasons were the cancellations from numerous companies and organizations that were supposed to exhibit inside the Schleswig-Holstein hall, as well as the current development of the Coronavirus pandemic in general.

Trade show popular with visitors and industry professionals

Before the pandemic, the Green Week regularly attracted around 400,000 visitors with its tens of thousands of food and beverage stands from all over the world and hundreds of animals and plants. The trade fair at the beginning of the year is considered the most important showcase for the agricultural and food industries. Horticulture is also represented. The Green Week 2019 showcased more than 1800 suppliers from more than 70 countries. The exhibiting companies get an opportunity to gauge how well their new products are received by the Berlin public.

Januar 2023 geplant.
