Christmas markets can still take place under 2G conditions, in which case only vaccinated and recovered people will have access - but this is not a condition. This was agreed by the Senate on Tuesday (November 23, 2021), according to information from the German Press Agency (dpa). In this reard, Berlin is proceeding differently than the neighboring state of Brandenburg, where all Christmas markets must close on Wednesday. Several Berlin Christmas markets, such as the ones on Breitscheidplatz, Gendarmenmarkt or in front of City Hall, opened on Monday, while others have been open longer already.
