Part of a door frame from Cameroon is on display in the Humboldt Form.

The Ethnological Museum and the Museum of Asian Art will open their first rooms on the second and third floors of the west wing. In the view of Hartmut Dorgerloh, Director of the Centre for Art, Culture and Science, the museums are of "decisive importance for the success of the overall project". With their objects, they are central points of departure and reference. The exhibition enables "the necessary debates about colonialism and racism, about discrimination and power relations". The new presentations are an occasion for questioning and critically examining one's own history.
On 22 September 2021, the museum section will be opened by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Fundamental assessments on how to deal with objects from colonial contexts are also expected. From Thursday onwards, visitors will be able to see the objects in huge showcases and elaborate set-ups.
