The strike in passenger transport began during the night, a railway spokesman confirmed, adding that the replacement transport was running stably. In particular, S-Bahn services in Berlin and regional services between Berlin and Brandenburg are affected by the strike, according to S-Bahn Berlin and Deutsche Bahn online. According to the statement, the S1, S2, S25, S3, S46, S5, S7, S85 and S9 will currently run every 20 minutes. The S8 will run every 40 minutes.
The S26, the S41 and S42 ring trains, the S45, S47 and S75 will not run at all. In addition, the S-Bahn only runs between individual stations. Stations in Spandau, for example, are currently not served by the S-Bahn at all. More detailed information is available online from the S-Bahn.
Restrictions are also to be expected in regional transport between Berlin and Brandenburg. On the lines RE1, RE3, RE5, RE6, RE7, RE10, RE15, RE18, RB11 and RB43 there will be replacement services with trains and buses. There will be no replacement services on the FEX, RB10/14, RB13, RB20, RB21, RB22, RB23, RB24, RB31, RB49, RB55 and RE/RB66 lines.
The union has been on strike in the freight sector since Tuesday evening. The train drivers' union is fighting for more money and better working conditions for its members. There are no strikes against Deutsche Bahn's competitors. However, restrictions are also possible as a result of the strikes. Nationwide, Deutsche Bahn has cancelled 75 per cent of its long-distance trains. On Tuesday, the GDL announced a 48-hour nationwide strike on long-distance and regional services starting at 2 a.m. on Wednesday.
