Heavy rain, thunderstorms, squalls and hail expected
At the weekend, people in Berlin and Brandenburg will again have to prepare for thunderstorms and heavy rain.
In addition, there could be gusts of up to 65 kilometres per hour and hail on Friday (16 July 2021), according to a spokeswoman for the German Weather Service (DWD) on Friday. According to the forecast, storm-like developments with heavy rainfall of up to 40 litres per square metre "cannot be completely ruled out". The maximum temperatures on Friday will be between 26 and 31 degrees. In the direction of the Oder, there will probably be longer sunny stretches.
More showers on Saturday
In the rest of Berlin and Brandenburg, the clouds will not retreat until Saturday night and the thunderstorms will become less frequent. Locally, showers and fog are still to be expected. Overnight lows between 16 and 20 degrees. During the day rain will return, especially in the southeast of Brandenburg. In the northwest of Brandenburg, the showers will decrease and the weather will clear up. In the Prignitz, too, it will probably be clear in the evening. The high temperature on Saturday will be between 24 and 29 degrees.
New week starts cooler
Apart from individual thunderstorms, the night to Sunday will remain largely free of precipitation. According to the spokeswoman, high pressure will prevail and it will become cooler. With highs between 24 and 26 degrees it will remain dry. At the beginning of the new week the highs will be up to 24 degrees and it will be mostly dry and windy.
