Summer is just around the corner
Sunshine at last: People in Berlin and Brandenburg will probably only have to endure a few more days of uncomfortable weather before they can get out their sunglasses, T-shirts and picnic blankets.
The coming Monday (10 May 2021) could be the "first day of summer" with temperatures of more than 25 degrees in southern Brandenburg, according to a spokesperson for the German Weather Service (DWD). For Berlin, 23 to 25 degrees are expected for Monday. According to this, it should already get warmer from Saturday onwards. This is what the current model forecasts indicate, even though the situation could still change. Meteorologists call temperatures of 25 degrees and above a summer's day.
Before sunshine comes the rain
According to the DWD, the good weather will be preceded by clouds, showers and thunderstorms. Especially on Tuesday, it is important to dress for the rain: A cold front is expected to come from the northwest across the Prignitz and Havelland regions to Berlin, bringing with it gusts of wind, some of them heavy, especially in the evening. On Wednesday, the weather is expected to remain uncomfortable with wind and showers.
From Saturday it will be warmer
There should be improvement from Saturday (08 May 2021). As the DWD spokesperson explained, a low pressure system is to move in the direction of the British Isles. The air circulation will gradually bring warm air from Spain, North Africa and the Mediterranean region to Germany. The spokesman expected maximum temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees on Saturday, but on Sunday it could already be more than 20 degrees. At the same time, it should be dry and bright. According to the forecast, the early summer temperatures will continue on Monday and Tuesday. In the south of Brandenburg it should be somewhat warmer than in the north.
