After Prince Philip's death: flag at half mast
The flag at the British Embassy in Berlin has been set at half mast to mark the death of Prince Philip.
This was also done at the residence of British Ambassador Jill Gallard in Grunewald as well as at the consulates in Düsseldorf and Munich, said embassy spokeswoman Amelie Heinrichsdorff.
Digital book of condolence is set up
In addition, a barrier has been erected in front of the royal coat of arms on the embassy façade on Wilhelmstraße so that flowers and candles can be laid. A book of condolence will also be available - not on site, however, but digitally. It is not yet clear when it will be available. Only a few weeks ago, Prince Philip, husband of the British Queen Elizabeth II, underwent heart surgery in a special clinic and spent several weeks in hospital. In mid-March, he was discharged home, where he died on 9 April 2021 at the age of 99.
