At individual points such as Markstraße, Frankfurter Allee and Prinzregentenstraße, cycling traffic has increased by up to 32 percent. Environmental Senator Regine Günther (Greens) said that the growing trend towards cycling in Berlin would be strengthened with the expansion of the corresponding infrastructure. She mentioned cycling expressways and a new cycling network of around 3000 kilometres. "The foundations have been laid, the start has been made."
The annual report 2020 on cycling is based on counts at 12 points and 17 automatic permanent counting stations. Ten additional automatic counting stations have been announced to improve the recording of cycling traffic.
