The station already announced on Monday (December 28, 2020) to dispense with the traditional fireworks this year. A permit for the fireworks was granted, according to the responsible district office. The ZDF television show "Welcome 2021" will take place without an audience at the Brandenburg Gate due to corona and will be shown live on german television (ZDF).

The show will be hosted by Andrea Kiewel and Johannes B. Kerner. Performances between 9:45 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. will include the band Karat and pop star Jürgen Drews. Live broadcasts by celebrities from the fields of sports, shows and music, as well as social media activities, will round out the program.
