Participants of the Berlin Half Marathon 2019 run through Friedrichstraße.

As the organisers announced on Thursday (17 December 2020), the originally planned date for the running event in April cannot be kept. Instead, the race will now be scheduled for 22 August. "We simply want you to train in a worry-free and fun-optimised way so that nothing stands in the way of a successful finish," the event's website said.

This year, the event on the first weekend in April had to be completely cancelled due to the Corona crisis. Around 34,000 participants had registered for the 40th anniversary event. The 21.095 kilometre race is one of the largest half marathons in the world and was fully booked in 2020, just like in previous years.
