Event industry plans new protest in Berlin
With another demonstration today in the capital, the event industry wants to draw attention to its precarious situation in the Corona crisis.
Under the motto #OnFire, hundreds of vehicles are to drive in a parade from the Olympic Square to the Brandenburg Gate, as the organizers announced. At the same time, according to the police, a march with about 6000 registered participants from the Red Town Hall is also planned. The actions are to last until late in the evening. On Tuesday, the traffic information center warned of extensive traffic obstructions already from the morning.
The protest march is organized by campaign alliance #AlarmstufeRot. Also the hotel and restaurant federation Dehoga as well as the Federal association of the German tourism economy called for the participation. Already in September thousands of people from the industry were on the road in Berlin at a first one with hundreds of vehicles. Because large events are still hardly allowed to take place, organizers and artists as well as the hotel and restaurant industry have been hit particularly hard economically.
They are jointly calling for aid programs "that are more specifically geared to the needs of the companies than the support programs that have so far been set up by the government," they say in an announcement.
