Bode-Museum and Pergamonmuseum open again for visitors

The Bode Museum and the Pergamon Museum will reopen on October 3, 2020.After the closing time due to the corona pandemic, the historical ensemble of the Museum Island will be fully accessible to visitors again.

As Staatliche Museen zu Berlin announced on 24 September 2020, both the Bode-Museum and the Pergamonmuseum will then be open again during regular opening hours. The Pergamonmuseum houses three museums: the Collection of Classical Antiquities, the Museum of the Ancient Near East, and the Museum of Islamic Art, and displays works of art from Greek and Roman antiquity. The Bode-Museum houses the Sculpture Collection, the Museum of Byzantine Art, over 100 works of art from the Gemäldegalerie and a large part of the coin collection.
Already open on Museum Island are the Altes Museum, the Alte Nationalgalerie, the James Simon-Galerie, the Neues Museum, and a temporary replacement for the Pergamonmuseum. The National Museums in Berlin (Staatliche Museen zu Berlin) include 15 collections with 4.7 million objects in 19 locations. Last year, the museums were visited by almost 4.2 million people, almost 3.1 million of them alone visited the houses on Museum Island.
