"We're still here!": Berlin celebrates club culture

A good six months after the corona-related closure of all clubs, Berlin is celebrating its nocturnal scene.

Under the motto "We are still here!", the operators want to start at 3. October, according to the Club Commission on Thursday (September 17, 2020), "to send a signal in times of existence-threatening times for their importance and diversity". On the Day of Club Culture, forty clubs and collectives are to receive 10,000 euros each "for their years and decades of commitment to Berlin's club culture.

Among the clubs selected from 90 applications are Club der Visionaere, Gretchen, SchwuZ, SO36 or Tresor. The awarded ones want to present themselves on the day of the club culture with Showcases in different districts open air and indoor.

High hopes for a restart in 2021

The clubs, which remain closed, expect to restart in 2021, when they plan to work with rapid tests and new tracking methods. Currently, some of the Berlin clubs are open in open-air areas.
