"If Mr. Nawalny would like to be treated in Berlin and he can come to Berlin, the Charité will of course be ready," said the SPD politician on 21 August 2020 at the request of the Deutsche Presse-Agentur. Nawalny is being treated for possible poisoning in a hospital in the Siberian city of Omsk. His associates are planning to transfer him to the Charité hospital in Berlin. However, the doctors initially did not consider the 44-year-old to be fit for transport.
