Passenger numbers at Berlin Airports have more than doubled within the last seven days.

"Around 8000 passengers are currently handled daily at both airports," the operating company announced on Tuesday. "Air traffic has increased considerably in the last few days, and the airlines are significantly increasing their services," noted airport boss Engelbert Lütke Daldrup. "At the beginning of July, there will be another significant increase in the number of routes on offer."
Lütke Daldrup predicted that the number of daily guests would then regularly be well over 10,000 and would continue to rise in the weeks thereafter. About a week ago, the federal government had lifted numerous travel warnings. More than 50 destinations in about 30 countries can now be flown to again from Berlin.
However, the capital is far from the pre-crisis level. Normally, around 100,000 passengers are handled daily in Tegel and Schönefeld. During the Corona crisis, air traffic came to an almost complete standstill.
